[R15] 🥾 Visionary or Executor : Entrepreneur Mindset

Today's topic is a bit off-track from travel or photography; instead, it's towards productivity and building playbooks.

Last weekend, I did a lot of brain dumping to manage multiple streams in my day to " free up my mind from constantly thinking on what to do next " or " overwhelmed with thinking I have a lot to do. " Let me share my observations on managing things.

🚀 There are really two types of first-time entrepreneurs or solopreneurs: the Visionary and the Executor . The Visionary entrepreneur is the dreamer , the one who envisions the future possibilities of their business (think of iconic figures like Steve Jobs, Elon Musk, and Howard Schultz.) They are great at generating ideas, motivating teams and possess an infectious passion. However, the day-to-day execution and structured processes may be different from their forte.

On the other end of the spectrum, we have the executor or the technician . These individuals thrive on structure, organization, planning, and getting things done. They are the ones who bring the Visionary's ideas to life by meticulously defining targets and creating efficient processes.

As I share these entrepreneur types with you, you may align more with one than the other. Remember, both types possess unique strengths that can contribute to entrepreneurial success. However, we tend to focus on our strengths, which often leads to neglecting areas requiring attention.

Entrepreneurs often wear multiple hats when starting a business from scratch. They handle marketing, sales, operations, and support. However, it's crucial to acknowledge that not every aspect comes naturally to us.

"The visionaries who change the world often have no idea how they're going to do it when they set out." - Simon Sinek Visionaries may need documented processes, making delegation and explanation challenging. On the other hand, Technicians excel at managing teams and maintaining procedures but need help defining the company's overall vision and values.

A common challenge, as the founder, you may find yourself being the starting point and endpoint for decisions, causing frustration and inefficiencies. The key lies in recognizing which areas of your business are outside your core competencies and implementing systems to streamline them and delegate other tasks as soon as you can.

After extensive research, self-reflection, and experience in project management, I decided to create a playbook accompanied by a handy checklist for my routine tasks such as photography trip planning, capture, editing, printing or blog research to distribution, sharing newsletter, managing multiple systems to maintain all this etc.., etc..

⛵ I'm currently in the designing phase and will share more updates in upcoming emails. This resource aims to guide creators or entrepreneurs like you in overcoming obstacles and reclaiming control over your business or projects. If you are intrested in joining this exciting journey, reply yes!!
