[R81] 🥾 Running Late? How to Skip the Security Line

“Life’s best adventures are the ones that make you reach for your camera.” (my favourite quote this week)

Hello Hello 👋

This week’s letter from home (India). After multiple flights and visits in the last few weeks, today’s topic is very important. We’ve all been there—running late for a flight with that dreaded security line staring us down like an unmovable wall.

It’s stressful, and every minute feels like it’s slipping away, threatening your seat on that plane.

So, what do you do when you need to get through airport security ASAP without being that person?

🚀 Here are two approaches that might save your day:

⛵ Ask the Security Agent First:

Your first stop should be the TSA agent managing the line. Politely tell them your boarding time and ask if they can assist. Often, they’ll move you up to keep the line flowing smoothly.

A friend of mine once shared that during his first near-miss, he started by asking each person one by one to let him pass. It was a bit of a mess until someone finally suggested he ask the people at the front first. Lesson learned!

He got through in minutes without ruffling too many feathers.

⛵ Politely Request to Cut the Line:

If the TSA agent can’t help, your next move is to kindly ask fellow travelers to let you through. It’s important to stay calm and make your request urgent but not demanding. Something like,

“Excuse me, I’m sorry to bother you, but I’m running late for my flight. Would it be possible to go in front of you? I wouldn’t ask if I didn’t really have to.”

People are generally more receptive when you ask kindly and explain your situation.

Avoid sounding bossy or entitled—no one likes that. A simple, honest approach can go a long way. Just be sure your reason is legit.

Don’t make up a story, because it might backfire if you run into the same people later.

⛵⛵ Bonus Tip: Be Prepared to Miss Your Flight:

Sometimes, despite your best efforts, making the flight might just not be in the cards. If you’re less than 30 minutes from departure, you might need to accept that it’s time to look into rebooking.

🚀 What If Someone Asks to Cut in Front of You?

Now, if you’re on the other side of the equation and someone asks to cut in front of you, consider being gracious.

Sure, it’s frustrating to lose your spot, but you never know what the other person might be going through.

Maybe it’s not just poor planning—delayed connections, transportation issues, or even personal emergencies happen.

Letting someone through might be your good deed for the day, and who knows, you might need the favor returned one day.

Traveling can be tough, but a little patience and kindness go a long way.

🟢 Until the next email, Keep chasing horizons, one frame at a time and let’s be mindful of our environment.

Cheers!!

When you’re late for a flight, here’s how to cut the security line without annoying everyone.
