We are born and brought up in a country named “India” where we are insisted since childhood to feel proud about own country. At that small age I did not know much about my own country and whatever good things I heard from the my surrounding made me believe the tag “Proud to be an Indian” but now my mind is inquiring at every point of time regarding what should I be proud of.
About whole part of the country are facing strikes, some social groups are adopting non-violence movements fighting for their own rights, many coming on ground against corruption and some against price rise. Am I supposed to feel proud about a country whose citizens are not even getting justice for basic rights?
Recently a girl who might also felt proud to be an Indian went out for job and got raped. Lot many doctors did the medication but she died at last, still our Indian government investigating this clean chit murder case. In last one year 635 rape cases are registered and only 1 case hearing is done, rest all cases still covered the culprits under file. Those who deserve brutal punishments enjoying their life and the innocent victimized girls are striving for survival in the society.
Such a remarkable country with great system where for every punishment there is some or the other equivalent monetary option. The Indian price rise is almost recorded 4-5 times within past 20 years but the charges against punishments still remain same as when declared by the time constitution had developed.
From past 20 years I am watching Indian rail charges, some 200 bucks against smoking and 1000 bucks for pulling chain unreasonably. The law and punishments are getting simpler day-by-day. In today’s world 200 bucks is not a big amount as it was 30 years back. Every year the crime rate is accumulating but still the system remains silent.
What should we be proud of? Just because we are living in a democratic country where every citizen has freedom to do whatever they wish and then again we only fighting to correct the limits of freedom as the law who are supposed to check all this is snoring. We only have to do strikes, morchas, etc. by students coming after school, youngster joining it after their working time so that they can think about the matter and remain silent till next time again we raise our voice.
We are losing so much government money in elections because of democratic parties and system design. Still we are the one who are doing our job as well as trying to awaken the law people so as to make them realize their job also since it says we are brothers and sisters from a same motherland.
Think before you say “Proud to be an Indian”.
