Japan Trains and Stations
The railway system in Japan is so well developed, punctual, extensive and diverse. It is safe to assume that wherever I plan to go anywhere in Japan, I can find trains and stations that will take me there.
There are a variety of trains in Japan like Rapid, Local, Shinkansen (Bullet Train), Limited Express, Semi-Express, Express, Night Train, etc.; however, I always found synergies between trains, stations, and the people.
Japan Trains and Stations are very safe in terms of pickpocketing, night travel, etc. I hardly heard any news and never experienced it.
As expected, first and last trains of the day are mostly crowded, as termed in google map “cramped standing room only.” However, it is easy to travel at that time as well. People mostly wear a mask, almost busy with mobile/tablet, girls sometimes busy with makeup, but the best time to take a nap (even they can manage to take in standing position as well). In general you shouldn’t eat in trains and stations, and there are designated places for eating as “Eating Room” at stations. And similarly, avoid talking on the phone.
Streets near railway stations are mostly lively place, I can find restaurants, bus station, shopping malls (few station) and bike rental etc.
